Cultural Club Trip to Kentucky Powwow 2013

Cultural Club Travels to Kentucky Native American Heritage Museum Powwow

Twelve members of the Danville Campus EKU Cultural Club attended the 2013 Kentucky Powwow in Corbin on August 31.

The students enjoyed visiting the festival despite the intensely hot weather and several participated in the traditional circle dances. Everyone visited the vendor booths and attended some of the demonstrations, such as tomahawk throwing and beading. The powwow offered a great opportunity for the students to experience authentic Native American music, dancing, and drumming.

Following the visit to the powwow, the students traveled to Cumberland Falls, where they ate at Dupont Lodge and participated in a Cultural Club meeting with students from the Corbin Campus to discuss future trips and fund-raising efforts. Before traveling back to EKU Danville, they walked to the base of the Falls to take photos and enjoy the natural beauty and power of the Falls.
