EKU Danville Hosts 250 Boyle County 8th Graders
Every Fall semester the staff at EKU Danville sets aside a day when they can welcome all of the 8th graders at Boyle County Middle School to their campus. It’s a day of tours, ITV demonstrations, discussions of essential employment skills, and strategies for how young students can best prepare to meet college admissions standards.
This year students also heard about new opportunities for college students to engage in project-based learning as part of service learning projects, co-ops, and internships in their own community. They also learned about the range of student services and full degree programs that are available at EKU’s Danville Campus and at the EKU Richmond Campus.
The yearly visit is coordinated by Kathleen Sinkhorn, the director of Boyle Middle School’s Youth Service Center.
