Welcome Back Bash Fall 2014
Welcome Back Bash, 2014!
Thursdays are usually busy class days at EKU Danville, but August 28 was especially festive as the staff sponsored its annual welcome back party for students and faculty.
Using a “Spin-to-Win” roulette game, staff members handed out prizes to students who were able to answer Jeopardy-style trivia questions and EKU-related questions. Gifts were provided by academic and student support offices at EKU Richmond. Some Danville merchants such as Lee Stephens and O’Charley’s also supplied gift certificates and give-away items for the event. With t-shirts, notepads, sunscreen, lanyards, flashlights, caps, and grab bags with Post-It Notes and pens, students felt treated to school supplies and enjoyed the light-hearted activities.
A Wii tournament was held in the Student Lounge, and several registered student organizations set up tables to recruit new members and officers for their groups. The organizations represented included the EKU Danville Student Government Association, the EKU Cultural Club, the EKU Genealogy Club, and a newly forming Veterans Club. Also, this year several student support offices also set up tables to assist students who had school-related questions. We greatly appreciate these office staff members coming over to support our students from Richmond: Bill Holmes from the Study Abroad Office, Kim Dickey from the Veterans Office, and Toni Wiley from the KHEAA Office in Frankfort.
Susan Watson, EKU Danville Academic Services Manager, helped grill the hot dogs and served the other food for the students, including veggies, fruit, and cookies for both lunch and dinner. Many, many thanks to all of the staff who helped plan and carry out this party!
